Download All Your Fathom Recordings at Once
Every Fathom meeting you've recorded is sitting in your account as a video file - but Fathom's interface only lets you download them one at a time, three clicks each. If you have 200 meetings, that's an afternoon of clicking.
Since July 2026 there's a bulk way: Fathom released an official recordings API, and TranscriptExporter (a Chrome extension and Official Fathom Partner) uses it to download your entire recording library in one run - the actual video and audio files, saved to a folder on your computer.
How it works, step by step
Install TranscriptExporter
Install the Chrome extension and activate a license with the Recordings add-on ($29 license + $19 add-on, both one-time). Connect your Fathom account with one-click login or an API key.
Open the Recordings tab
The extension popup has a Recordings tab. It counts your meetings and shows an estimate of the total download size before anything starts, so you can check your disk space first.
Start the download
Take everything, or narrow it to a date range. The extension requests each recording through Fathom's API, waits for Fathom to generate the file, and saves it via Chrome's download manager - named to match your transcripts. Close the popup; it keeps running.
Real numbers, not marketing numbers
In our own testing on a real account: 156 recordings, about 25GB, downloaded in roughly 20 minutes. The extension paces itself within Fathom's API rate limits, supports pause and resume, and gracefully skips recordings your account can view but not download - they're listed at the end instead of stopping the run.
When a full recordings download makes sense
Leaving Fathom or switching tools: your recordings don't come with you unless you take them. A full download is the only complete copy. (See also: downloading your transcripts before canceling.)
Compliance and client records: some industries need the full recording retained, not just the transcript. A local archive - or a copy in your own cloud storage - is yours regardless of what happens to your Fathom account.
Storage limits: if your Fathom plan caps recording history, downloading the backlog means old meetings stop being at Fathom's mercy.

How long does it take?
Depends on your library size: our 156-recording, 25GB test took about 20 minutes. Generation and download run in parallel, and the whole thing continues in the background.
How much disk space do I need?
Figure 50-350MB per meeting depending on length. The extension shows a total estimate before starting - if it's more than you have free, narrow the date range and do it in batches.
What about meetings shared with me?
Recordings your account can view but not download (limited shares) are skipped and listed at the end. They never stop the rest of the run.
Does it need my Fathom password?
No. It connects through Fathom's official OAuth login or your own Fathom API key. Credentials stay in your browser; recordings travel directly from Fathom to your computer.
Can I also keep them in Google Drive or Dropbox?
