TranscriptExporter gives you two ways to connect, and both are fully supported:
Fathom also shows a Webhook Secret on that screen. The extension does not use it, so you can ignore it. Only the API key is needed.
Both routes export all content types (transcripts, AI summaries, highlights) and all formats (TXT, CSV, MD, JSON) in any combination. Your API key is stored locally in Chrome only and is never sent to our servers, exactly like your one-click login token.
The API key route fetches transcripts in batches of about 15 meetings per request, while one-click login fetches them one meeting at a time. In a real measured test, about 25 transcripts came down in roughly 10 seconds via the API key, versus roughly 30 to 60 seconds via one-click login.
The API key matters even more right now because Fathom recently began rate-limiting per-recording requests during periods of heavy load. That can make large one-click-login exports slower than they used to be. This is a temporary situation on Fathom's side, it is being worked on directly with their team, and it is not a bug in the extension.
Because the API key batches requests, it avoids that rate limit entirely, so big exports stay fast. The one-click login route still works well for everyday exports.

Yes! Check the Highlights box next to Transcripts and AI Summaries, and every export includes the moments you marked during your calls: timestamps, bookmark labels (like "Objection" or "Pricing"), and the highlighted text.
Highlights appear in all four export formats: a HIGHLIGHTS section in .txt files, a Highlights heading in .md files, a dedicated column in .csv, and structured data in .json. They add zero extra processing time because they arrive with the meeting list rather than requiring a separate download per meeting.
Note: highlights only exist on meetings where you (or a teammate) clicked the highlight button during the call. Meetings without highlights simply skip the section.

This prevents browser memory issues and ensures reliable downloads. You'll see live progress as each part saves to your downloads folder.

Once enabled, auto-sync monitors for new transcripts as they finish processing in Fathom. On your chosen schedule, any new transcripts are automatically uploaded to your cloud storage - no manual exporting required. Auto-sync is a dependable ongoing backup: it will not silently skip a recording during Fathom rate-limiting, and it runs fastest and most reliably when you connect with a Fathom API key.
Pro subscribers can also check "Upload to Drive" or "Upload to Dropbox" when doing a manual bulk export. This sends all those transcripts to your cloud storage at once - perfect for backing up your existing archive.
